Majestic Overture is a concert overture intended to function as the "forward" or "prelude" to the concert program.

In form, it is a rondo of sorts, with alternating repeated sections and their variants.

The themes have been crafted to match the message suggested in the title and sub-title. I grew up in the 1950s in a small mountain town in northern California, Dunsmuir. Every day—even as a child—I relished and marvelled the beauty of Mt. Shasta, that raised the sky just eight miles north of my home. The people, the time, the place—all have had a profound influence on my being, for which I have always been grateful.

It is a short work, with only 165 measures, which makes it suitable for the "opening act" of a concert program.
